I could not put this book down! I was a bit apprehensive when I heard about the storyline in The Hunger Games. Kids forced to fight to the death?! I decided to read it for myself after hearing so many positive reviews. Wow! It turns out that this action-packed story is more about survival and friendship. In the story, the Capitol orchestrates the Hunger Games in order to maintain control over the different districts in the country. If someone's name is chosen, participation is mandatory and everyone knows that only one person will survive. A citizen doesn't have much choice but to play in the games if his or her name is chosen...right? The story continues in the second book, Catching Fire, and culminates in Mockingjay.
